"New Project"
We were interested to read whilst in Tokyo where we are currently creating a one act ballet "Six Faces" for K Ballet, that there was some speculation about our upcoming project. Just to let you all know we are planning an original production of "Liasons" based on the novel Les Liasons Dangerous, choreography by Adam Cooper, designs by Lez Brotherston, co-directed by us both, original score by Philip Feeney, probably produced by Katharine Dore. Following a very succesful workshop which included the dancers Jayne Regan, Laura Morera and Matthew Dibble we are planning to premiere it in UK Autumn 2001

This is starting to sound a bit NBT-ish. Is Jayne returning to NBT when her maternity leave is over, does anyone know?

I remember reading about plans for Corder to do a version of Liaisons for the RB and thinking that Irek and Deborah Bull (well, Monica Mason but she's a little too mature now...) would be perfect casting for Vlamont and Merteuil!

I take it either I misremembered or that never happened?

At last the news is out and nice to get it from the horses mouth as it were!

Not sure Jim how this releates to NBT, but it will be terrific to see one of the very finest dance actresses treading the boards again

Satoko:

I'm not sure what the problem is but your posts are a horrid read while they contain so many junk characters!

I believe that others in Japan have discovered how to configure their machines to 'talk western' and I was going to sugggest
that it might be useful for you to use our Test Forum while trying to find the magic option that will put it all right.
Here is a link to the forum:
http://www.danze.co.uk/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=test&conf=test_conference_1

None of this is to put you off posting at all - I would never, ever, wish to do that.

Dear Adam-

How exciting to hear about your new production at last. I hope that perhaps you will be dancing in it as well. I live in the USA, am an avid fan, and will be visiting the UK in autumn, so this news is very welcome indeed! Good luck and please keep us posted!!

Dear Lez,

Just to make sure that Adam doesn't get all he fan mail, I must just say how much I appreciated and truly enjoyed your set designs for Northern Ballet Theatre's productions of Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, Swan Lake, A Christmas Carol, Hunchback of Notre Dame and Carmen. Still to see Dracula

11. "RE: New Project"
I have to say that this proposed 'new project' opens up a new host of speculations. For instance:

take a couple of ex-Royal ballet dancers:
a) Christopher Gable - handsome dancer/actor/choreographer, disillusioned with the RB, left to pursue new career opportunities.
b) Adam Cooper - handsome dancer/actor, choreographer, disillusioned with the RB, left to pursue new career opportunities.
Next:
NBT seeks a new Artistic Director. Company has a history of producing works with a literary theme. Lez Brotherston involved a lot in its productions.
Next:
New Project' (with a literary theme) appears not to be attached to any particular company. However, some names attached to project seem to be more than a little bit involved with NBT.

Wild cards: Matthew Dibble appears on the project's cast list, tho word is he has not left K-ballet. Plus Katherine Dore is attached to AMP.

Does all this suggest that NBT and AMP may be planning a merger, or is Adam to become NBT's new Director, or a will it be a joint partnership of Adam/Lez? All speculations welcome

A nice idea but NBT sorted their AD a week or two back:

What exciting news! And how nice to see it posted here (thanks, Adam and Lez). It shows how this site has become an important forum for many dance lovers - those who do it as well as those who simply love to watch.

Couldn't agree more - it is rather exciting isn't it. Thank you gentlemen, good luck with the project and do drop in again! (And as you will elsewhere, people already want to know how much the stalls seats are going to cost!!)
