Web site looks great, and the timely info is wonderful. The James-Dean style photos make me a little sad, though. I hope this is not where Adam wants to go with his career: I'm-so-sexy bad boys are a dime a dozen; beautiful charismatic dancers are rare and special. |

>LAST EDITED ON 24-02-03 >AT 04:24PM (GMT) > >I agree. Will Kemp seems >to be going down the >same route and it's a >little bit demeaning. I >wonder if ballet boys are >a little immature for their >age and have been persuaded >by their agents that >glam shots are the way >to go . > >I, for one, would much prefer >some Onegin/R&J/SL pics to Hello-type >stuff. Okay, this is my first post here, so please be gentle; but I must disagree with the above statement. Granted, I don't know Will Kemp and Adam Cooper's stage work as well as many of you do, but that is mainly because I live across the Atlantic. I have, however, been following Will's career for about four years now and while I don't know him personally, I have read pretty much every interview and article on him. My personal take is that he is just flexing his wings a bit to try different things, but doing so sparingly, as dance is his first love. And while he has done some 'glam shots', they have been few and far between. As he himself has said, "I've had so many job offers. I've turned them down. I'm a dancer and an actor and to do that convincingly you have to stay unrecognisable. If I was the face of, whatever, I'd lose my appeal."
I get the sense that he is very focused and has a good deal of integrity and maturity in the pursuit of his craft. And the fact that he does turn down many offers, such as the Armani deal which would have brought him a pretty penny and his face in every fashion magazine for months on end, is a clear indication of where his head is on such matters. I admire him for this, although it's frustrating from a fan's point of view trying to get news and photos on him. So, I hope I haven't offended anyone by my reply as certainly I would never intend to do so, especially Ann, as I quite often enjoy reading her many posts. (I have been a regular visitor to this site for ages, but only now have a reason or perhaps courage to post a message myself). And I hope I don't sound preachy. My apologies if so. Also, to Karen Ritchie on the Adam Cooper website - bravo. I haven't seen a link to email you so I will have to do it in this public forum. Just to let you know, I have used a photo from your site as an icon link to your website from mine. If you wish me to remove the photo, please contact me at dani@willkemp.org and I will replace it with a different photo. Sorry to ramble on so. Best wishes to all from Washington, DC. Referring to above comments on "glam" photos: Like Ann, I didn't mean to insult anyone, especially not Karen and Jane for the web site, which is great - beautifully designed and a real service to Adam Cooper's many fans and wellwishers. And certainly not Adam himself. Of course no one photo expresses all of a personality. My feeling about the intro pic is that it would be fine as one of the Gallery, but that as the first intro to the site, it projects an image not so much glam as a little banal - exactly what I'd expect from Hollywood (where it appears it was shot), but NOT what I think Adam is. Forgive me - I'm an editor; I think about these things. Of course, I could just keep quiet about them. I could occupy myself by repining over how I'm too far from Japan to see Swan Lake and scheming about how I'm going to get to London for On Your Toes. |

Hello,I've just seen the perfomance of SWAN LAKE in Tokyo, 25th (Adam was SWAN) and 26th (Jesus Pastor was SWAN) that was exactly marverous!! (about the stage,I'd like to inform as possible as I can on another posting) I've returned home and found this information. The PAGE is really fantactic and I also have a great appreciate for webmaster,Thank you so much! But as an audience,I felt two differrent feelings about the PAGE I had just looked at.It's a really wonderful page and I'd like to see from now on,but about the current schedule of SWAN LAKE in Japan,Japanese audiences had not been announced the day when Adam would perform,so now the schedule (the published dates)is removed "to avoid confusion"the webmaster says,it's a good thing in one side,of cource we'd really like to know the cast correctly and eagerly not only Adam but Yasuyuki Shuto and Jesus Paster too,if possible, but in another side for the audiences who would like to see the one of three SWAN especially but they had already bought the ticket another day...might not believe the schedule it's appriciate to tell the truth though, because it's really important infomation and if possible we'd like to know Before the tickets was saled.Actually a little bit cofusion have appeared in Japan, they(we) buy tickets again and sale again...so about the current information might be removed. But the PAGE itself is,I say again, fantastic and I'd also like to say "Thank you" and "please continue to make the page and please contact to us if possible directly near the future and not only webmaster but if it's an official page through the site I'd like to hear Adam himself's voice on his off and when he has a time to contact" ...because he might be so busy though I'd like to see and hear, and also to inform from Japan the impression about the stage! Thank you. (Satoko.K) |

Dear Satoko, We're delighted you like the site. As most ballet.co postees know only too well, cast lists are very often not published before tickets go on sale, and even the when they are changes can happen at any time, right up to the last minute. The scheduled performance dates were removed as we found that the delay in receiving information from Adam was longer than we had anticipated. There was a distinct possibility that the situation could arise where changes had been made to the cast in Japan which could not be shown on Adam's site for at least several hours, possibly even not until the next day, and the three of us felt that it would be confusing to have inaccurate information on Adam's site which would be different from the box office in Japan. Hopefully this will not be a problem when Adam is dancing closer to home, as we feel very strongly that every attempt should be made to be as accurate as possible. After all, inaccurate information can be worse than no information at all! Thank you for your kind comments about the site, Best wishes, Jane |

LAST EDITED ON 03-03-03 AT 03:19 PM (GMT) Dear Jane and Karen Thank you so much for your responce about my opinion. I'm very happy and calm to read your message, though I'm not living in Tokyo,I can just feel you are strongly and sincerely thinking of Adam, the audiences and fans. And we'll read Adam's comments on the page of Bunkamura Orchard Hall homepage,tomorrow,4th March! Thank you very much for you two,and best much for Adam. I've been appriciating that you'd tried to chice the BEST and accurate information for all. Perhaps a lot of fans are appriciateing of you and your site. Again I say,"Thank you for your comments at all!" and "could you permit to link your page(Adam's site) with my homepage in Japan? " http://www.fitweb.or.jp/~stkb I'm sorry it is hardly to see from Eupopean form, maybe, because I use Japanese language characters to write the pages. It's supporting Mr.Kumakawa(Teddy) and K-Ballet personally but many audiences are visiting to see,of cource, we've been remembering Adam had performed and choreographed to K-Ballet in the 2001 year "Six Faces"! Now,I've already written the impression of the stages of SWAN LAKE I've seen first in Japanese, next the Time I try to write the review in English as possible as I can naturally,by waiting the words and feelings coming to pour. Sincerely. (Satoko.K) |

It is wonderful to hear Adam's own voice from Japan. Thank you so much to sending them to us in spite of your hectic schedule. By reading some of reviews in a Japanese site, the fans just love the show and it is truly their dream come true. The show and Adam's performance touched their heart and soul do deeply which all of the performancers obviously felt at the numerous curtain calls and during the show. I am so greatful to have Adam's website being launched before the Swan Lake performance in Japan, without this site we may not be able to hear his own voice so soon. Thank you again and again to Karen, Jane and Adam for their efforts. hiroko |
