"Coronation of Poppea at ENO"
The Coronation of Poppea at ENO looks rather like AMP's Carman populated by the male swans from Swan Lake in their characteristic fluffy trousers. I was amazed to see so many ideas from AMP. A nude counter tenor enters and puts on yfronts which also looks suspiciously like the ones from an earlier Matthew Bourne ballet(I cannot remember the name). Having ripped off AMP there is a scene when a Mark Morris lookalike dressed as a woman is chased all over the scaffolding all slightly funny if you saw him at the Coloseum earlier this year. The music is wonderful and the show is suprisingly more explicit than The Carman but the choreography is not as interesting and I do think they could have put an acknowledgement in the programme. If I were Matthew Bourne I think I might sue, but maybe he is flattered.
