"Billy Elliot - an alternative version"

In the alternative version Billy Elliot is a sensitive young boy living in a grim ballet community of Baron Court or West Kensington. He wants to turn his back on ballet and become an accountant. He had to fight the typical prejudices of that time that only "real men" become accountants etc.. Set in the bitter and desperate ballet strike of the 80s which so polarized in England in 80s Billy overcomes terrible adversity and the disapproval of his parents - both ballet dancers on the picket lines!

Of course this will be a no holds barred view of the desperate plight of people fighting for their way of life. It will pull no pushes and will make allowances for the sensibilites of people who may be shocked at the crude language. You can expect repeated use of obscenities like "oh yar" "how frightful" "quite dreadfull" etc

For obvious reasons it will have to have an 18 year Certificate

Well casting will be difficult. We cannot get young actors to involved in scenes of extreme violence. It is our intention to re-create the great ballet riots that occurred at the RAH when Swan Lake was succesfully performed in the round. This turning point in the strike will done as faithfully as possible including all the pitch battles between the dancers, police and the "scab swans" which was televised for all the world to see.

Of course the film will explain why the worker were not balleted to go on strike. It was a simple misunderstanding of words. People were confused over ballet and ballot (just one letter out).

In keeping with my habits of employing non actors in major roles I have chosen John Major as Billy Elliot inspirational teacher of accountancy. As for Billy I really wanted "blip boy" - the well know young criminal who casued such a massive crime wave the police crime statistics "blipped" (presumably upwards). But when I tracked him down he told me to "fook off". So I am hopefull after that somewhat ambigious response.
