This Royal Ballet, the Other One, Likes Being No. 2. A piece about BRB and 'Mr Bintley' is interviewed (I still find the Mr and Miss stuff odd in a country that otherwise uses first names so readily). By ALLEN ROBERTSON:

Witty and imaginative or flatulent and awful? French choreographer Maurice Béjart is revered abroad but reviled by the British. Jenny Gilbert investigates a cultural divide:

Sweaty brows and sultry hips are the biz. The Car Man | Old Vic, London. By Jenny Gilbert:

Not quite the grandeur a jewel of traditional ballet deserves. Kevin Ng on Hong Kong Ballet's La Bayadere:
http://www.hk-imail.com/iconnect/public/article_v.cfm?articleid=8172&intcatid=18

(Not about dance as such but relevant dept...) Dancing in the dark. So, after years of decline, theatres all over the country have been saved by government cash. Or have they? Dominic Cavendish explains why regional theatre must reinvent itself or die:

Note to Goddess Wuppertal, it's all Portuguese to us. Date: 06/09/2000. There was something in the air at the Capitol - like a whiff of cultural cringe, writes Timothy Jones:

LAST EDITED ON 24-09-00 AT 05:42 PM (GMT)

Ismene Brown is not over-impressed by 'Billy Elliott', but her review has the interesting dimension of getting the views of two dancers with working class backgrounds - Robert Parker of BRB and Philip Mosley of the RB, who was a model for the theme of the film apparently.
