"Live performances"
I found out at the weekend that I'm married to a Eugene-clone! The whole hassle of getting where you're going, dressing up, being in an uncomfortable seat, not being able to take comfort breaks as and when you please, other people in your way, less than ideal acoustics, being too far away from the action, really detracts from the performance for him. He also rates the music above just about everything else both for ballet and opera - if he doesn't like the music then the performance won't get to him.

For me the "trip out" all adds to the excitement of the performance - I think his point of view is rather sad.
