""Give the Arts more money""
 
   Spotted in the library at the weekend, while I was doing my weekly trawl of the newspapers, was a front-page article saying that the Arts should be given another 100 million; that (?)2/3 of the population say that the arts enrich their lives; that despite all these wonderful new Lottery buildings there's not enough money to finance performances in them, etc. etc. Nothing we haven't heard before from time to time in the broadsheets, but the real surprise was that this was the main news item on the front of the Mirror. Perhaps the message is finally getting through after all ...
