Some more on the Kaiser interview

The main message was that the ROH financial problems are at an end and they have money in the bank that will long term fund new work and a few others goodies. Oh that we all had a property, or two, to sell in Floral Street!

What seems to be being said is that the ROH will have a nest egg of 23-25m. It's not clear if any of this was mentioned and factored into calculations earlier. While Chris Smith and the Arts Council might feel happy that they will not have to lob any more money into the place (then is already committed of course), it does raise the question of if they taken to the cleaners by the ROH in the last set of negotiations?! Whatever, a deal is a deal and I'm as thankful as anybody that the ROH is able to say it is in such sound financial health.

I also like the anecdotal stuff in the piece - particularly about Kaiser and Eleanor (his secretary). He answers the phone when she goes out to lunch apparently. So sweet!
