"Sylvie Guillem Interview "

I've just watched an interview with Sylvia at the end of the French TV evening news, as she's in Paris to appear in Swan Lake in the coming days. The interviewer had his little joke, and asked her if she'd learned to be more phlegmatic during the past ten years based in Britain, or if she had acquired a different view of her art - the 'art de vivre' perhaps, she joked back. And then she said seriously that she had learned a great deal from the British, and in particular about theatre. They have a great gift for theatre, she said. They don't just concentrate on technique, they are also very keen on the characters in a piece, and they work a lot with the psychology of the character, and make them come alive, and make a story really live. And that I've learned from the British, she said.

Thanks muchly for telling us this. She really is a dramatic dancer.

I think her odds on her getting the ADship of RB have just gone up from 10:1 to 8:1 !! Now if she can just manage to button-up about Fille being stupid...
