"new ballet film is coming"

A new film called Dancer will be released very soon. It is about a 13 year old miner son who rejects boxing as a recreation for ballet! It is set in the middle of the miners strike so there is going to be alot of politics involved I bet.

It sounds more like a comedy then drama! There is talk of it being the next Full Mounty - look out for it soon!

Today's Daily Telegraph has reviewed it very positively (and apparently Adam Cooper has a small role as the grown-up dancer at the end). Sorry, I don't have the URL, but perhaps Bruce will have spotted it in this week's links.

The final sequence does indeed feature Adam Cooper as the grown up dancer and was filmed backstage during the recent UK tour of SWAN LAKE.

Also look out for great reviews of AMP's THE CAR MAN in today's Times, Telegraph and Guardian (reveiwed last week in Plymouth)

The plot to this film keeps reminding me of those Monty Python sketches which use to send up kitchen sink dramas that were so common in the 60s. There weew always on about angry working class people in the, dare I say it, North. Monty Python completely riducled them - esp the women. (no flames please!)

It is is very easy in this kind of film to overdoo the difference in class etc.

Also I hope that it will not be as politcally biased as "Brassed Off!". It too easy to make this a rant against Mrs Thatcher just as Brassed Off was.
