"POB at the Lowry"

Is anyone out there going to the Saturday 6 May 'Bayadere' at Salford? I'm going to both the matinee and evening performances. It would be nice to meet (if we can work out a suitable meeting place).

Dear english friends who can see our favourite companies. I inform you of the cast Theorically Hilaire is injuried and removed by Le RIche with Platel, Legris will dance with Gaida and Bart with Letestu. I don't know if Platel makes just one as previous or two Bayadère with Le Riche in the first way I think it will be Letestu Le Riche. Aurélie Dupont must make four Gamzatti but she is injuried and theorically Marie-Agnès Gillot must remove it, if Aurelie couldn't dance. SHe has problem with a knee. Eleonora Abbagnato should dance Gamzatti one time I think Saturday afternoon. But she can remove one time Dupont

Abbagnato's dancing Gamzatti?! Wow, what a promotion (!)...I hope I will get to see her soon in Paris. I haven't heard that her actual dancing is that great (I'll have to see!!), but she seems to have a very nice personality as a person, which is always important as a dancer. Any aspiring young dancers coming out lately from POB School? How was the school performance on the 3rd?

Like you say,Terry, indeed it's a promotion for Abbagnato to dance Gamzatti. But you know Lefèvre the director of dance of the POB has decided to make her the next superstar and a french critic recently said about her that she was the next Guillem.I think it's quite insulting for Guillem.Anyway she doesn't have the technique nor the mystery of Guillem.I think that Abbagnato is good in modern and contemporary roles and also in some dramatic roles where you have to be a good actor like the Death of The young man and the Death of Roland Petit. In the classical repertoire she hasn't yet the required technique.I think it's a little provocation that Lefèvre gives her to dance Gamzatti while she is only sujet, she could of have given the role to the newly promoted première danseuse,Laetitia Pujol. But Lefèvre is the only to decide who is going to dance what and apparently Abbagnato pleases very much to Mme Lefèvre. If Mme Lefèvre is still director of the dance of the POB,Abbagnato will probably be the next étoile within 2 years.Like you pointed out Abbagnato has a certain personality(I would say too much in a wrong way!)but this is not sufficient to make a good dancer.Like I said before I much prefer someone like Emilie Cozette, very complete(she is technically quite thrilling, has a very fine silhouette and face, and is very lyric).

I'm going to the matinee. If you want to say
Hello to me, find a scruffy looking chap with a longish plait. (I'm much friendlier than I look!)
