Afraid I can't find anything in the UK papers today, though the troublesome FT site is having problems. However Renee Renouf, our corespondent on the west coast, has just contributed two SFB reviews that you will not have seen yet. Enjoy....

This time we'll get it right. Covent Garden reopened with cancelled shows and gremlins galore. As a visually stunning new production opens Rupert Christiansen goes backstage to see if it's finally all coming together:

Just to say that the FT site seems to be available now. If you use the advanced search facility, selecting all sources, and searching on Ashton, you can access a range of items on the recent Ashton programmes. There's a piece from the Independent, interviewing Jean Bedells and the others who were involved in the reconstruction, which I don't think is available otherwise, plus some reviews from the Birmingham Post and others. Oddly, nothing from Crisp, though.

The French are simply the best. Nureyev transformed Paris Opera Ballet from a dull and complacent company into the world's finest. Now they visit the UK for the first time in 16 years and are unmissable, says Ismene Brown:

Game, Bloomsbury set and love match to Nijinsky. One of Nijinsky's 'lost' ballets is coming to Covent Garden, thanks to the efforts of a pair of dance archaeologists. Allen Robertson reports:

A guy down Sadler's Wells who swears he's Elvis. With such a compelling subject, it seemed that Peter Schaufuss's new ballet, The King, couldn't fail. Then the Presley estate objected. Has a fortnight been long enough to rework it for its London début? By Nadine Meisner:

Presley's daughter forces Elvis ballet to close just before it opens.

What a shame for Peter Schaufuss that the very day the Independent publishes an article in which he coyly refuses to reveal his age, it happens to be his birthday, and the Times tells the world that he's 51!

For some unknown reason the Sunday Times does not seem to have an electronic dance review this week...

Thin Elvis. The King, Sadler's Wells, London EC1. Copyright problems have made rock'n'roll spectacular The King a pale shadow of its subject. By Jann Parry:

Alive & kicking. Michael Clark was as famous for his heroin addiction and hedonism as for his outrageous talent. But now, after a six-year battle with depression and alcohol, Britain's most gifted dancer is back on his feet. By Andrew Smith:

On the FT site there is a link to an Independant review of the The King by Nadine Meisner. Can't find it on the Indepenedant site of course...

(**) the FT site (http://www.ft.com) is structured in such a way that we invariably cannot give you a simple URL to reviews. Importantly however they are a route to pieces on other Newspaper sites that are not directly published on those sites. To get at this you really need to use the Advanced Search page and type in ballet or dance:
http://www.globalarchive.ft.com/search-components/index.jsp
