"Dance on TV & Manon"

Is anyone familiar with the TV series ‘Dance in America' (c.1991) and ‘Ballerina' (c.1987) which was hosted by Natalia Makarova? I've seen some of the episodes for these series and I thought they were very good - plenty of ballet excerpts in the case of ‘Ballerina'! I'm wondering if they're available on video or if anyone taped them off the TV ages ago.

Also, I read recently that MacMillan's ‘Manon' originally had another scene in the third act which was subsequently dropped. Something about the Gaoler and another prostitute? Is there someone who saw ‘Manon' premiere in 1974 who remembers it and can explain why it might have been dropped? I got the impression it may have been because the scene exposed the Gaoler's personality too blatantly.

Surely it's pretty blatant as it now stands!

I think maybe they thought that it was too late in the ballet to introduce a completely superfluous new character (she was called the Gaoler's Mistress, I think - Georgina Parkinson?) and it just made the last act longer without really adding anything.
