"Darcey and Friends"

A splendid evening !! Theatre looked completely full from where I was and there was an excellent response from the audience.

The rumours were true - Super Cooper was there and danced very well!! Unfortunately Johnny Cope was ill so Bruce Sansom came to the rescue for one piece and Matthew Hart the other !

All the dancers loved it. Belinda Hatley called it great fun and are all keen to come back at some point !!

Programme was
Agon pdd (Darcey and Adam)
Manon Act 1 pdd (Sarah and Inaki)
Pavane (Darcey and Adam)
Nutcracker pdd (Belinda and Bruce)
Carmen (Darcey)
Cry Baby Kreisler (Matthew and Sarah)
The Two Pigeons (Belinda and Adam)
Le Corsaire pdd (Darcey and Inaki)
Finale - New piece by Tucket (all)

Yup, I was there too. In fact just got back home around midnight. What can I say - a truly delightful evening with (due to Jonny's indisposition) the added bonus of Bruce Sansom and more than just a bit of Adam). Matthew Hart (and Sarah) scored with Kreisler. Add to this the more-ish Two Pigeons and Corsair dpd. The only oddity, I felt, was the Carmen piece where Darcey danced a pretty nice solo observed quietly by Inaki & Adam but the whole thing came to a rather puzzled full stop. However, at the end of things the Festival Theatre audiences didn't seem to want to let them go. Worth a 200 mile round trip of driving over hills and blind summits, braving the rain and Scotland's speed cameras - DEFINITELY!

Oh heck! for Corsaire dpd, read pdd. The Corsaire piece didn't quite give out the fizz that it could with Teddy, but nevertheless....Darcey pulled out the stops (big grin in place)in the end.

Ann : I think the problem with Carmen was as good as it is it is very short and I actually thought they may have added a pdd especially as Adam was down as a dancer. Hence the confusion at the end !!

It also has a nice little piccy of what is claimed to be Darcey and Inaki (with back to camera) in Le Corsaire, and which looks to be exactly the same as the one in yesterday's Daily Telegraph, which is captioned as D. and Adam Cooper! (Perhaps Inaki's straightened out his hair a little and lightened it!)
