NY City Ballet has a new work by Twyla Tharp. According to US commentators it seems to be in the same category as 'Mr Worldly Wise', I'm afraid. Clive Barnes gives his views in today's NY Post, whose links seem to be permanent and free.

Into exile on a high note. Birmingham Royal Ballet's home is about to get a 29 million overhaul. And, as artistic director David Bintley tells Ismene Brown, the company is bowing out with a real humdinger of a show:

The Times: "Anger at price of "can't see" opera seats" by Dalya Alberge

Sorry, haven't had time to work out how to do links yet, so you'll have to copy and paste:

http://www.the-times.co.uk/news/pages/Times/frontpage.html?999

The seats in question are the back seats of the side balcony boxes. A spokesman apparently referred to the pricing policy of such seats as a "teething" problem - although in my view it is a permanent problem since there have always been terrible seats at the ROH and the auditorium wasn't changed much during the redevelopment.

Thanks Katherine - was off elswhere with my car broken down this morning (normal car not Morgan!). Had a quick look and here are the links I can find...

Can he see off the gremlins? Disaster has dogged the new Royal Opera House. But closure is not an option, says boss Michael Kaiser. Norman Lebrecht reports:

High kicks and love rivals. Fosse, the new musical about the famed choreographer Bob Fosse, is a labour of love by his wife and his mistress. Gwen Verdon and Ann Reinking tell all to Lucy Cavendish:

Finally something from the NY Times - I normally use such pieces when there is not so much on the UK sites, but will now look to put them in towards the end of the week rather then loose them. NY Times links all change on Sunday - you have been warned!

A fair review of the AMP/Bourne story to date. However, some website sub-editor seems to have got his nether-garments in a twist and has given the article a sub-heading about ENB's 'Swan Lake' mentioning Asylmurtova and Deane.

I always think that it's a great shame that we don't have our own word for Schadenfreude.
