I have just noticed that there is a documentary today on BBC2 about the Royal Ballet settling into their refurbished home. Apparently the series of five started last Sunday, and tomorrow's the 2nd installment. Did anyone catch the first?

I saw the first programme on Sunday. It was about the architects. I found it very interesting, although now I can't remember much about it! (It was only a 10 minute programme.) They did spend some time on the new ballet facilities, especially the new terrace where the dancers can go for a cigarette and a sunbathe!
I forgot to record Thursday's programme about the ballet dancers - perhaps someone could fill me in on what I missed?

It's tonight at 10.20, Katherine, so you haven't missed it - unless you're going out tonight.
BTW, did anyone see the 20-minute ROH slot on the Lottery programme? Rather cheesy in parts, but how good to see that several of the people physically involved in the redevelopment were interested enough to try going to the ballet.

Thanks Alison - I thought it was 10.20 in the morning! I obviously haven't been reading my Radio Times closely enough.
Speaking of which, there is an article about the ROH in this week's Radio Time (ie the one that's in the shops this week, but actually covers next week's television) to coincide with the broadcast of the opening celebration. The BBC/ROH "magazine" about the reopening will apparently be in the shops from 26 November and will cost £4.50.

Enjoyed seeing the physios and shoemistress, not to mention Oliver Symons without a wig! Quite interesting - would have been better had it been longer (1/2 hr would have been good). Lottery programme and classic cafe and the 10 minute progs have shown some duplication, though. Darcey didn't come across well on lottery prog - she doesn't work well to a script. Classic cafe is perfect viewing with baby Tim - mindless chat or harmless fun or something. Can't wait to visit the reopened house!

"Classic Cafe" on BBC1 was interesting and enjoyable. The Clore Studio where RB dancers were taking a class was shown and there was an interview with Anthony Dowell. This Friday Sylvie Guillem is supposed to appear on the programme. So don't miss it !
