I can't find anything on the UK sites at the moment. But I came across what looks like an interesting piece at the NY Times. I think though that NY Times pieces are not up for long and also that they might not be accessible to those in the USA - some feedback would be useful. Anyway here is the link...

As chance would have it i have just read another dance piece from the same edition of the NY Times, on the current Pina Bausch tour of the US.

http://www.nytimes.com/yr/mo/day/artleisure/bausch-dance.html

My understanding is that the daily articles are only available for a day, but it occurs to me that these Sunday articles may be up for longer as they seem to have a separate section from the daily paper.

The article is useful in that it covers pieces that have not been seen in London at SW or at the Goethe Institute screenings (see reviews section under Links). However, the style does have some choice bits for Pseuds Corner.

   Bruce / Stuart

Don't have any idea about how long NY Times links are available, but just to let you know that I clicked on the links you posted today and went straight to the articles - no problems (at least from Washington!).

There's a review of SFB's Swan Lake in the Indpendent today - but despite their new web version, they still don't put their dance reviews on line (and it still takes forever to download).

John Percival saw all 4 performances and liked the production a lot. He thought Lacarra the best Odette, Berman the best Odile, LeBlanc the best all round (and he liked Tan too). He also liked the 'dazzling' Lorena Feijoo.

Well spotted Jane. Can I suggest that everyone sends messages to the Indie site saying how disappointed they are that there are no dance reviews. Sadly, it will not be at the top of their list for things to include, but if they get about 20 e-mails on the theme, they may well re-consider. There was a time when the Guardian didn't include dance reviews.

Not surprised by Percival's views, as I thought the two I saw, Berman and Lacarre were excellent. Lacarre's Odile was quite something too. There was a moment near the beginning of Act III where, as Odlile and Siegfried are about to rush off stage, when Lacarre curled her fingers in a come hither gesture. I nearly leapt out of my seat to dash into the wings with her myself.

I am a bit puzzled by the Darcey article in The Times. As the Tory peer, Baroness James points out in the same article, her painting is in No. 10 because of her success as an internationally recognised writer.

I'm sure Darcey's portrait is there for similar reasons. The painting is eye-catching, if a bit garish, (I hasten to add that I saw it in the National Portrait Gallery, not No. 10), and celebrates a highly talented UK Arts personality. I'm pleased that a PM should wish to champion our cultural achievements, and dance in particular, in this way. It's a shame that it has back-fired, especially as the NPG maintain that they received no complaint when they informed Darcey of the planned move.

I'm afraid I can't find any reviews in the national papers today.

But here is a site you would not have dreamed of in a million years (well quite a few years anyway).... it's about the resurrection of Iranian National Ballet:

Out with a whimper, not a bang. Ritual sacrifice, mythical gods and one fantastic dancer - it should have been great, but the English National Ballet fell short of the mark. By Judith Mackrell:

Missed this one yesterday department...

It hurts, it hurts, it hurts. Jeremy Isaacs has written a book about the Royal Opera House but everyone is talking about another one - the roman clef based on his affair with a colleague's wife. Now, for the first time, he tells Sabine Durrant about his 'serious mistake':
