Is it my imagination or are more boys getting more credit that they used to do? We all know about Irek, Igor and Adam, but last night I saw BRB's Giselle and it was Robert Parker who got all the whoops, cheers and whistles (from a packed Sunderland house) rather than his Giselle (Dorcas Walters). OK, agreed Robert is cute and can pull out all the stops, but Dorcas was delicate and lovely. Incidentally this was the quietist ballet I have ever heard (contradiction in terms?). No clonks and thumps from shoes of either sex. Maybe it was the stage, but I don't think so.
