"Alberto Vilar"

I thought I would flag up a story, included in this morning's links, in which the philanthropist Alberto Vilar explicitly denies rumours that he has reneged on commitments to arts institutions, because of any financial problems of his own.

Vilar financed the restoration of the Floral Hall at the ROH as well as the Vilar Young Artists' Scheme. He is also paying for the installation of seatback monitors at the House. Any suggestion that he or other donors might modify their commitments in the present financial climate will undoubtedly worry the Opera House. It is also a reminder that dance companies which rely on private funding can expect a turbulent future for some time ahead.

The LA Times story is on this link
