June 23, 2002 So many thanks for the kind words! I am hoping that Richard Finkelstein will have time to send along some atmospheric photos shortly. He's very busy writing notes for the programs and trying to keep his numerous shots well catalogued! You also need to know that it's not often I'm in a situation where the telephone isn't ringing or an errand needs to be run, or the garden needs weeding, there is a meeting to attend, a meal to cook, laundry to do, etc. All I need to do is get out of bed, dress, eat, decide what's most salient for the day, write about it and attend performances in the evening! But thanks so much for the commendations! |

Renee has just sent through 7 pieces covering the start of Round 2 and three interviews including one with Galina Samsova, the UK representative and ex Scottish Ballet artistic director. Also one we missed earlier - Round one, Session one!I now count that we have 21 pieces - amazing. Not to be outdone Richard Finkelstein has sent through more pictures to accompany some of the new interviews and some of the earlier ones also. And we have a picture of Richard himself... 12. "Injury During Round One "

June 27, 2002 Richard Finkelstein informed me that Alexis Panos, 19, U.S.A., suffered a broken bone during her first classical variation in Round One. The audience, including me, saw only the break in continuity, and attributed it to lack of technique. After managing her second variation, Alexis' foot was X-rayed and the break was discovered. A native of the Boston area, she is home and undergoing physical therapy. Given this information this information certainly tempers my evaluation of her performance and calibre. I hope to see her some time in the future under more feliticious circumstances. Renee Renouf |
