"cinderella video"

I've just been watching the RB's Cinderella video, taken from a 1969 tv recording. It is sensationally, dazzlingly good - Sibley and Dowell full of youth and ardour, Ashton and Helpmann matchless as the Ugly Sisters, etc. What really struck me, however, was the quality of the Fairy Variations - if anyone wants proof that the Ashton style has now been totally lost, they should watch Jenny Penney as Spring - the musicality, the phrasing, the footwork, the half-turns, the epaulement. Nowadays they just charge through it heedlessly, and all the detail is simply ignored. has anyone else got views on this?
