"Leanne Benjamin in Swan Lake?"

Has anyone seen Leanne Benjamin in Swan Lake? I have tickets to see her in the RB Australian tour but I haven't been able to find many reviews of her in this particular role.

I always tend to class Leanne mentally as "not a tutu-type dancer" (her greatest strength appears to be in the MacMillan repertoire), but then when I see her in classical roles I usually end up being quite impressed by her. I certainly was in the case of Swan Lake last year, and I imagine that she'd have been even better if she'd been dancing with Johan Kobborg as originally scheduled, and not a last-minute pairing with Inaki Urlezaga after Johan apparently injured his hand.

Leanne's not the most moving Odette/Odile for me, but I agree, as grouchy as I was that Kobborg wasn't dancing I was still quite impressed. Is there any news yet on who she's partnered with?

Yes, I've seen her with Kobborg and she's a perfectly respectable Odette/Odile.

Rubbish, Benjamin is a wonderful dancer, not used enough, for my liking, but the best principal in the company, and I am so pleased to see that Tewsley will be her partner, gosh wish I could see the performance, will be magical, only hope the Tewsley gets to dance with her in London, he is the beat thing since Solymosi.

There are quite a few people on this page, I think, who wouldn't consider that much of a compliment

Alison, Sharon probably means the best-looking since Solymosi. That would more make sense.

Wow, how wonderful!! Tewsley's only been seen in London in Onegin but he is one of the best dancers I've ever seen. Please come back and post your impressions as we'll all be keen to hear about the RB's newest principal.

Tewsley did a spell of guesting with ENB in Nutcrackers and Cinderella's in the late 90's I think. Here is a link that brings up reviews where he was named - as ever some of the offsite URL's may no longer be supported by the papers concerned:

I had seen him in different rolls in Stuttgart. He is such an good actor and he is a very, very good dancer. We will miss him in Stuttgart. Can somebody tell me, how to get the dates, when he will dance in London in the 2002/2003 season?

Christine, at the moment he is scheduled to dance with Benjamin in The Nutcracker on 23rd (mat)& 28th (eve) December and 3rd (eve) January. Not so exciting for his talent, but I hope to see him in Mayerling in October/November. Prince Rudolf is the role he always wanted to dance, he said in an inverview.

Tomoko, how did you manage to find this out so soon (email if you prefer!). I haven't received anything from the ROH about next season yet at all.
