"Darcey and Jonathan"

I went on Saturday night and expected at least a few postings about the performance, but I have only noticed one.....I was glad to see that some of my thoughts tallied with other posters, re the pas de six, which I found truly tiresome, and the only jarring note of Act One. ( Oh, apart from the two silly women sat behind me who were in fits of laughter at the end of it, if you read this, shame...) Act Two was sublime, and, as so many have said, the corps were breathtaking. Zenaida was a chilling Myrthe, and as for Darcey and Jonathan.....several days later, I can't get them out of my head.....

Would like to know what other people thought.....clearly, Alina is many people's ideal Giselle and although I wanted to see her, the dates didn't suit because of family commitments. I wasn't sure this was the cast I wanted to see, (although I like both D and J a great deal) but I was very glad I did. I can't get to the ROH nearly as often as I would like, what with baby, full time work, etc, but now I can't wait to go again!

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? THE PAS DE SIX IS TEN MINUTE OR SO MARTERPIECE BY ASHTON, AND I MIGHT SAY WAS DANCED IN THE TRUE LYRICAL ASHTON STYLE SATURDAY EVENING,
THE AUDIENCE CERTAINLY ENJOYED IT, MAYBE YOU DO NOT LIKE ASHTON, ONE OF THE GREATEST TO WORK WITH THE ROYAL.

Oh dear, that was a bit patronising.....I know I said that I don't get to the ROH as often as I would like, but I know who Ashton is, thankyou very much. I think if you look through the thread about Alina dancing Giselle, you will find that I am not alone in my thoughts on the pas de six, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate Ashton's work.

The only part of the Pas de Six choreographed by Ashton is the Girls Variation, originally created on Sibley, and indeed one of his best variations.

Hi im thirteen and i went to the performance on saturday as well. I looked forward to it for ages and ages and Darcey Bussell and Jonathon were both amazing,as soon as it ended I wanted to watch it again and again!!It was my first time at the opera house and I would just like to say how much i enjoyed the experience. After the show I went to stage door and i met Darcey and she signed my ballet shoe, I met Jonathan to. It was the best day ever. Mum said I might be able to go again next year for my birthday. Anyway anyone who's thinking of going, its worth every penny!!!Oh,and i especially liked the pas de six!!
lots of love
