Irina Baronova, now living in Australia, was Preobrajanska;s student. So was George Zoritch, who now lives in Tucson AZ and I believe Tamara Tchinarova Finch who lives in London and who could be reached probabily via The Dancing Times which would forward any information. Americans who studied with her included Milada Mladova and Thalia Maria, the artistic director emeritus of the Jackson International Ballet Competition. These are the only ones who come to mind at the moment.

Janet Sassoon Upton studied with Egorova, and danced with Kurt Reinhold in Tatiana Gvosky's Berliner Ballet. She is making notes on her experience with Egorova.

That's about the sum of my list.

Thalia Mara, I have discovered, was also a pupil of Maximova, Bolm, Legat, and Fokine! I think many will know of her through her books, First Steps in Ballet, Second Steps...., etc. through to No.4 - slender, but detailed volumes reprinted in 1987 by Princeton Book Co. (and originally published by Garden City Books, NY, in 1957, written it would seem to complement the work of her school).

I didn't know about Thalia Mara's having studied with Maximova.
The others mentioned, however, are quite logical, unless Mara did some special work with Maximova relating to roles and details she didn't know about. I am assuming you meant Ekaterina Maximova, the wife of Vladimir Vassiliev.

Thalia Mara's books were written some time in the late '50's or early 60's and have been in print quite some time. She and her husband, Arthur Mahoney, had an academy in New York City, which closed, probably due to lease problems. She had teachers from the Royal Ballet for summer seminars. Maria Vegh, who later was connected with Harkness before moving to California to head Marin
Ballet School, was one of the students. Vegh was Joanna Berman's
principal teacher before Joanna started to dance with San Francisco Ballet.

It was after Mara closed the school that she moved to Jackson, Mississippi to be artistic director of Mississippi Ballet. It was there she conceived of having an International Ballet Competition in Jackson. It is now considered one of the best competitions, both in terms of organization, the cash amounts for
prizes and the unflagging hospitality extended to guests as well as jurors and competitors. Jackson renamed its Civic Auditorium
to Thalia Mara Auditorium some time in the last decade.
