Every time I come out after watching an RB class, I find myself thinking the same thoughts: I must lose some weight, get more exercise - and is it too late for cosmetic surgery? Ah well.
The Class today was taught by Alexandr Agedzhanov...very quietly, more or less ignoring the audience and it wasn't always easy to hear/follow/remember his instructions (not that it matters whether we hear/understand or not; we're lucky to be there at all).
The dancers appearing were (I copied these from the list afterwards): Alina Cojocaru, Johan Kobborg, Mara Galeazzi, Vanessa Palmer, Ivan Putrov, Tomoko Furuya, Bennet Gartside, Martin Harvey, Kenta Kura, Sian Murphy, Gemma Bond, Brian Maloney, Laura McCulloch and Jose Maria Tirado. (Kobborg didn't do the whole class, though.)
Have to admit I was watching Alina a lot of the time; she seemed a bit shy of being the centre of attention and at one point actually pushed (in a very gentle, graceful, ballerina-like manner of course) one of the other dancers into the front row so that she could stay in the back.
The class was fascinating. Everyone looked good and seemed to be holding their balances or arabesques for hours at the end of each exercise. Each of the men (except Kobborg, who had stopped dancing by then) did an impressive manege at the end...and then to my delight, Alina did one too.
We all clapped like mad when the class was over and most of the dancers filed out. But some of the men weren't ready to stop dancing. So one of them (cute and blond - someone thought he was Brian Maloney?) sat down at the piano and began to play - quite competently - music from various ballets, while Martin, Bennet, Kenta and someone else (whose name escapes me) did an extra manege or two for an appreciative audience. Then Martin, not to be outdone, took over at the piano, waited for our undivided attention...and played a bit of chopsticks (or similar).
A great day! If anyone else was there, please add to this, as I'm sure I've left a lot out and got things wrong!
