Word came to me that Carl Wolz, Executive Director, World
Dance Alliance, died earlier this month, probably in New York City. Carl was responsible for starting the WDA in Hong Kong in 1990 when he hosted an international conference during his
tenure as director of the Dance Program at the Hong Kong Academy of Arts.
A man of undeniable vision and organizational capacities, he
had steered WDA into regional organizations, and I was privileged to see it in operation in Seoul, July, 2000.
I wish I had more details to share with you, but it is for certain that a bright and extremely humane individual is
now gone from the ranks of international dance leaders.
