"Documentary about Violette Verdy"
A documentary about Violette Verdy, former principal of Roland
Petit's company and of the New York City Ballet, has just been released in France: it's called "Violette and Mr B" and is by Dominique Delouche, who has already made several films about ballet dancers (Yvette Chauviré, Monique Loudières, Nina Vyroubova, Serge Peretti...) There's a page about it at the following URL:

It is shown in one cinema in Paris, the Elysees-Lincoln in the 8th arrondissement (near the Champs-Elysees). I haven't seen it yet, but hope to see it as soon as possible (unfortunately, such dance films rarely stay on the screens for a long time...) From
what I've read, the film includes several rehearsal scenes of works of Robbins ("In the Night", "Dances at a gathering") and Balanchine ("Emeralds", "Tchaikovsky pas de deux", "Sonatine",
Lieberliesder walzer") with dancers like Isabelle Guérin, Elsabeth Platel, Margaret Illmann...

Estelle - Many thanks for this information. The film sounds absolutely mouthwatering, and I would actually consider taking Eurostar to Paris to see it but it would be impossible this time of year. Hopefully it will be shown again later at a more convenient time.
