"New poll on Rambert's next AD"

While the news is hot, let's start a new poll on Christopher Bruce's successor at Rambert. Brendan and others have already provided an impressive list of likely-sounding candidates, but there's room for plenty more - please add your own suggestions to this thread.

To stop you having to hunt around here are the names that have been mentioned to date (and in no particular order!):

Deborah Bull
Mark Baldwin
Bruce Sansom
Wayne McGregor,
Matthew Bourne
Michael Clark
Henri Oguike.
Ashley Page
Richard Wherlock,
Nunn and Trevitt (together or separately I wonder?)
Adam Cooper
Robert North

please add potential other names to this thread please, and or add your comment or support for some of the existing names - it's quite a list and we well might need to whittle it done for a Mini-poll. But be quick - we will be starting the poll at the end of the week.

Finally here are the other threads of interest re Bruce/Rambert:

   What about Didy Veldman?
Raphael Bonachela?

I wonder if the above list contains some of those SB are hoping to interview shortly.
I wonder what effect Bruce's announcement will have on SBs search for their new AD.
If your ambition was to be artistic director of an established middle sized ballet company, which would you choose - Scottish Ballet or Rambert Dance Co?

   Scottish Ballet or Rambert???
Sadly it would be insane for anyone to choose Scottish Ballet. Think of the rows at Scottish Ballet and Opera Board (including fisticuffs if I am not wrongly informed). Remember what they tried to do to Robert North. Think of the ridiculous statements by the Minister for Sport and the Arts in Scotland. The desperate website of the beleaguered dancers, sorry Carly there is no choice.

Sadly Robert I agree with you. It was kind of a rhetorical question anyway.
Also sadly I can only think that Rambert's new vacancy is more bad news for SB.
I do however imagine that whoever gets appointed new AD at SB this time around, will probably get loads of support from the Board - Too much at stake not to.

This was put on the New Work thread (at http://www.danze.co.uk/dcforum/happening/2342.html) but given its contents I think is perhaps better discussed here. BM

I can't believe that on these pages people are screaming about the lack of new work but at the same time leaving the likes of Wayne McGregor and Henri Oguike so far down the list for the new AD of Rambert!

Oh come on - AMP have done nothing close to the work of Rambert, Deborah Bull is a dancer and administrator - not a coreographer and Adam Cooper is a soley a dancer! Ashley Page's last ballet was nothing to write home about and Nunn & Trevitt have recently made a name for theselves off the back of a certain Japanese dancer and a channel 4 TV series not for anything artistcly outstanding.

The most recent works of any worth have been Duo:logue and those in the recent tour by The Henri Oguike company.

For real innovation people need to stop looking at the works of the big companies and start looking further afield.

Decent new work which is truly innovative is not going to come from the RB or ENB - Get real!

regards

James W

Javier De Frutos should be on the list. He's truly original and passionate. He has worked with Rambert, and he has run his own company.

We are drawing to the end of this poll and there are many voters for 'other'. If you voted that way, it would be really useful if you could add a posting about who we left out.

It's also very likely that we will have the time to bring this poll back again and it would be nice to have an even sharper list of the great and the good...
