"Friends of CG Priority Booking Feb-Apr"

Has anyone had their tickets yet? They were meant to be dispatched by November 12th, and I've received nothing so far. Is it just me, or is everyone still waiting?

Thanks.

I also remember them saying that they had gotten very behind on Booking period 2, so assuming they're well behind on period 3 as well.

And does anyone know when the booklets for period 4 are coming out?

I asked at the box office last Saturday, and they did say something along those lines. I'm still waiting for my period 3 tickets, and my mum got her tickets yesterday.

They are. Very. I suspect that they may have had too many booking periods opening too close together.

Still haven't received anything, possibly because I booked for Don Giovanni, which I suspect is going to be oversubscribed.

*Everything*?! Whereabouts were you booking for? And does that include opera as well? I was very surprised, as I thought there were quite a few things in Period 3 which wouldn't sell that well. Oh dear, hope I've given them enough choices.

I think Covent Garden is doing very well at present. I have been to Opera the last two Mondays and both times it was full to capacity. I found it impossible to get into the Haydn Opera at all. I trust the ballet is doing as well, it was almost full for Don Q. when I went early on. I do hope they can fill all those Nutcrackers and the less than exciting looking Triple Bill!
As I am not a friend I await the letter from the box office with trepidation.

LAST EDITED ON 20-11-01 AT 03:02 PM (GMT)

The Cojocaru-Corella Don Qs at the end were nearly full to the bursting but it sounded like ROH were having a hard time filling up the last few Rojo-Kobborg performances. I bet there won't be any problem filling up those Nutcracker seats. And I wonder if the general public are as excited over Onegin as ballet fans are?

As for the triple bills I'd be surprised if they were taking many bookings without a cast. There aren't many performances of each are there? When I enquired about Onegin before the casts were announced it hadn't been filling up very well.

And has anyone received their rehearsal tickets for booking period 3 yet?

I have booked for Onegin last Saturday and some of the performances were nearly fully booked ! Only Upper Slips, some standing places, few 'side'amphitheatre and some 'expensive' ones were left.

They got my hopes up as I received the rejection in ticket form!

It said that only some and not all performances were oversubscribed..which I imagine that they included La Bayadere - admittedly, I did want good seats and to see Darcey dance.

Much looking forward to Onegin though!

My mum queued for 2.5 hours the other day for an extra ticket for Turn of the screw only to find that everyone was queueing for Tosca to see Pavarotti. She told me that there were a lot of little old ladies queueing for Pav tickets and had queued for the same amount of time and no chairs were provided.

Do you think that customers should be warned that queues may be long or should they be provided with some form of seating? 2.5 hours is a very long time to stand for any age.

Also, do you think that there should be separate queues for Opera and Ballet?

Sylvia, I haven't received tickets for rehearsals yet. I've applied for all, but I think I would be lucky if I could get one. The Friends office once said to me they try to give tickets to different people. This year, I had R&J, but I couldn't get Don Q. However, I've got a ticket for Onegin on Thursday and I'm very pleased about it ! Are you going ?

Tomoko, they sell some seats on the day right? I don't have a ticket but I'm going for the performance that evening so I'm going to try for one! I read they're avaliable 90min before the rehearsal, so could someone advise me when and where to start queuing?

I finally got my tickets last night, and got most of things I wanted, with the exception, surprisingly, of "La Sonnambula". I would be very surprised if "Bayadere" etc had sold out already. A friend of mine got a good seat for next week's "Onegin" the other day, so there must be seats available for that too. I suppose they wouldn't be advertising "Onegin" so heavily in the newspapers if it was sold out.

Wonder how the bookings for Onegin are going (it played to 30% capacity when LFB opened it in Manchester in 1983, even on a Saturday night).

See that a lot of the marketing is around the Power of the Personality and le Cooper. Hope it can attract a crossover audience - they will be impressed.

   Hello Ann.
Sorry to disappoint you, but it's the Bellini opera (although some of it's music is used in the Balanchine ballet). It don't think the opera has been seen in London for years, which may explain why it is over subscribed.

They *have* been advertising and promoting it very heavily, haven't they? Not to mention trumpeting Adam Cooper's return. I shall be interested to see how it sells, considering that I don't think ENB ever managed to sell more than about half a dozen performances in London, even with some very stellar casts.

I heard that there was an average of 1300 tickets available for each show when the telephone booking opened. No idea what it is like now but assume it will not be sold out.

I'm sure the reviews may also influence future booking!

I think most people were holding back until casting was announced. The Rojo-Cooper performances have only a poor selection of seats left, mostly in the amphi. I'm surprised Cojocaru-Kobborg isn't selling much faster. And while I'm intrigued at the other choices of cast I certainly don't expect them to sell out.
