Thanks to a little article in "Dance Europe" this month, I discovered a most astonishing website.
Please visit : http://www.bournonville.com
The site is launched by Erik Aschengreen & Henrik Emmer "to promote interest in the life and work of August Bournonville".
What a wonderful place!
Apart from the obliged biography, a list of all ballets, their story, historical background and 'musical notes' there are numerous great photos and a column on the Royal Danish Ballet.
But most rewarding is the extensive explanation on "the style" !
Please click the "Positions & stylistic characteristics" and you'll find more about 'tendus', 'positions et bras','arabesque' etc...all with clear photos. And there is everything about the choreographic and mimic style....and the male dancers : Bruhn, Schaufuss, Kobborg...
This site deserves to be at the top of your favourites !
And nowadays a balletsite isn't complete without a link to Ballet.co
