"Booking for Onegin"

The Friends of CG aare clearly feeling guilty about the earlier lack of casting for Onegin - either that or they are finding ticket sales slow. I got a letter this morning with casting, and offering priority telephone booking. Since public telephone booking opens on 1st Nov., and postal is already open, this isn't a lot of priority really, unless you want the Period 3 dates. I got what I wanted, though, with no trouble at all - and I only had to wait about 2 hours to get through, and then only 20 mins. once I was through!

Luckily, casting information on Ballet.co was a bit earlier than this letter!

Thanks for posting this Helen. I'm pretty mad - I'm a Friend and I didn't get a letter. I'm expecting a loooong wait and a huge bill on the phone tomorrow. Why they don't send half this stuff by email is beyond me - wouldn't it save them a ton of money?

Well, that does seem unfair! I hope you get what you want. I can't think why I should get a letter and anyone else not. Just inefficiency, I suspect.

I've had both an A5 postcard mailer, and about three days later the letter with the complete casting - nearly a month late, it was promised for early October, and a quasi apology.

But I've lost motivation - the autumn has got booked up with other commitments. Not really sure I shall bother.

I have not been successful with my online booking requests lately.True these have been for Opera, which may be oversubscribed. I have a feeling they hold lots of tickets back for those with patience and an open phone line. It has all been very convenient up until now; perhaps I have been lucky.
PS I have just received an email ROH offer of reduced price tickets for Don Q. with a glass of champagne. Does this mean that ticket sales for that are poor? Annoying when you have paid full price.

The ROH box office has got some flashy electronic screens up which show availability. The 3 performances to which the offer relates did seem to have quite a bit - all the others shown were "limited". The information shown on the screens seems to be a bit limited, though - I'd still prefer a good-quality noticeboard with all the information that we need on it, rather than having to queue for ages to get hold of it.
