"Don Quixote - matinee 26 October"

LAST EDITED ON 26-10-01 AT 06:09 PM (GMT)

A much, much better performance! - better conductor (Paul Hoskins), Acosta on top form, Nunez very nice, appreciative audience - shame they couldn't have opened with this one.

Cast:

Kitri/Basilio - Nunez/Acosta
Don Q/Sancho Panza - Saunders/Sapsford
Gamache - Tuifa
Lorenzo - Page
Kitri's friends - Davies, Murphy
Street Dancer - Galeazzi
Espada - Harvey
Gypsy Boy - Kura
Queen of Dryads - Tapper
Amour - Barahona
Bridesmaid - Morera

And the 3 leading Dryads, who don't get their names in the programme, were Arestis, Ortueta and Yanowsky. (On Tuesday they were Valtat, Revie and Davies.) Vanessa Palmer excellent as a Gypsy Woman.

Stretton is certainly getting the soloists on stage - I feel I've seen more of them in 2 performances than usually in half a season!

Thanks Jane! I wish I could have seen Nunez - she said that Kitri was at the top of her list to dance so I'm sorry to have missed her.

I had not seen Acosta dance before this afternoons show and I must say I found him to be a fabulous performer. I shall certainly look out for his name again. A thoroughly enjoyable dance.

Go Carlos!

It was my first time to see Nunez as a leading role since I didn't see her in Coppelia in the summer season. To my surprise,I was impressed by both her technique and acting as she didn't impress me when I first saw her at the gala for Princess Margarett last year. She and Acosta were really at home in this ballet.
