I went along to a junior open day at the English National Ballet's headquarters on Saturday. My eight year old daughter is an associate member and I went along as her guest. We watched the company in class including most of the principal dancers, then watched Erina Takahashi and Jan-Eric Wikstrom rehearsing a pas de deux. We also got to visit the wardrobe department and see some fabulous costumes and my daughter got a goody bag to take home. We were taken care of (wonderfully)by Linda Darrell, a former dancer with the company who now runs the association events. All of this for a small annual subscription. I thoroughly recommend anyone to join as it was a lovely behind the scenes look at a superb and friendly company!
