""The Ballet Annual""

Rediscovered last weekend a another box with "forgotten" books in my attic.
Among old Béjart-programmes I found "The Ballet annual"-fourth issue 1950, edited by A.L.Haskell. What a treat ! Lots of pictures and wonderful info.
It covers countless issues from this post-war, busy time.
'Outstanding events of the Year' (Cinderella, Petit's 'Carmen' was "decidedly the ballet of the year" ! - 'Ballet in televison' (!) -'The economic aspect of ballet' - 'The ballet season in Paris'...

A very interesting quote :
"....Some critics have recently lamented the lack of choreographers in British ballet and have predicted disaster as a result. This lack of choreographers is nothing new and is not common to this country....."

I wonder for how long this series of annuals has been available ?

Viviane, there were 18 issues of The Ballet Annual. The last one - a half-size version - covered the year 1962-3.

They are quite easy to find in second hand book shops in this country - Dance Books used to have dozens before their Great Sale.
