"Kobborg gala - any reports?"

I haven't heard anything about the gala Johan Kobborg organised in Copenhagen the weekend before last. Did anyone see it? The programme sounded really good.

writing as the producer of the gala i may be biased, but i believe the performances in copenhagen were very successful (sold-out houses and fine reviews) but that they were troubled by an injury and some technical problems.
the dancers were exceptional.
starting with johan, he performed 'vestris' with a plasticity and
virtuosity that was no less impressive than baryshnikov's. ivan putrov
has the most beautiful line and the kind of easy jump, that draws gasps
from the audience (watch out for this one!), and rolando sarabia (who
was sadly injured) is one of the most exciting performers of his
generation with a great stage persona. i feel priviledged to have
presented him. alina cojocaru is a phenomenon, of course, and tamara
rojo is a remarkably expressive and mature performer with a great knack
for detail. also, we were very fortunate to have muriel maffre of sf
ballet perform a chilling version of 'the dying swan' that had all the
dancers watching in the wings, and to have the beautiful josé odoardo
pérez come in from dresden to do le corsaire.
from denmark (and new york and new zealand ), nikolaj hübbe and silja schandorff danced agon and
duo concertant in a great partnership that now needs to be developed
(!!) and andrew bowman gave a poignant performance in a new, modern work
by tim rushton.
we will repeat the project next year with 3 performances in tivoli and
some in the province of denmark - and possibly some elsewhere in europe
as well... maybe even in britain.
thanks for asking.

Thank you for posting. It sounds wonderful. I am excited already at just the POSSIBILITY of such a gala coming to Britain.

And how about bringing it to Southern California! We never get to see any of the good stuff...well, not hardly.

   thanks. that's very encouraging!
we obviously want to do it again but have to convince venues that there's an audience demand for this kind of thing - so, please, spread the word!
shortly, we'll be presenting a new website documenting the gala in copenhagen with updated information on future events.
