"Where is Sylvie?"

In the first three booking periods for the RB there are no Guillem performances. I'm not a great fan, but I do recognise her stature as a world class ballerina and her growing maturity as an artist. She is principal guest artist and has been loyal to the company for over 10 years. A pity then that just after an interview in Dance Now in which she says she has always wanted to dance Tatiana that she has, accoriding to rumour, not been cast. She is not down to do Giselle or Bayadere. Will she go? Stretton apparently is adamant that dancers will not be able to 'pick and choose' repertoire.
The loss of Guillem would be a grave mistake, as would the squeezing out of Acosta who, having come to the Royal to dance new repertoire and learn, is only getting 2 Don Qs and two Bayaderes... He is a world-class dancer after all...

I should have mentioned, of course, that I was referring to full-lengths. Sylvie is, of course, down to do M&A and then Month (?). Hardly a major presence in the schedules...

Gerald, I really do hope that the bad news around RB comes to an end very quickly....
I only started to discover them !
Now I am disappointed to hear that Sarah Wildor is leaving...
I had hoped to see her a lot more !
I have no words for the way Irek has been treated.
Oh, and now your posting made me realise that Acosta (I find him a marvelous dancer)is indeed hardly sceduled next season.
And why oh why is there a silence around Sylvie ?
I thought Robert (in the Sarah-posting) was extremely pessimistic...but it's definitely scaring when you put all the 'pieces' together.

Has not Acosta returned to the Houston Ballet. If so it is understandable why he cannot do too much at the Royal Ballet.

Two performances is standard for principal roles in the classics - is it not?

Gerald, as I'm 99% certain that you were at Acosta's appearance at the Ballet Association in July, I thought you'd know the answer to that question. Presumably the same applies to Guillem as well. You have to be quick if you want the big names!
