"D. Bull's book "DANCING AWAY""

I have been reading Ms Bull's book. It is a superbly written and insightful book. It provides fascinating details on what really goes on in the world of ballet which no "Guide to Ballet" book could really do. One could call it "the hidden world of ballet".

Perhaps the most succint point she makes is her elementary theroem that governs the relationship between ticket prices and government subsidy! To paraphrase her -- "running costs less government subsidy equals ticket prices!" As a former teacher of economics and accountancy I could not have put it better myself. Perhaps that should be answer to those who bitterly complained about high prices for the Bolshoi etc.

Eugene, is that the newly-released, revised and updated paperback or the first edition hardback? Can anyone give me a clue as to how much new material is in the paperback?

It looks like it is just a paperback version of the original hardback. It shows that it is selling well - Darcey's book has yet to make paper back!

The paper back is an updated version. There is quite a bit added on from the original!!

No offence to Darcey but her book is hardly the same quality as Deborahs (very readable on a rainy afternoon nonetheless).

So is it worth investing in a paperback copy of "Dancing Away" to read the extra stuff?

That's what I was wondering, too! Almost bought one just for the autograph last week, but common sense prevailed.....

Don't you just HATE it when publishers bring out updated paperback editions and you've shelled out good money on the hardback?! Fortunately everyone ignored the book when it appeared on my Christmas list last year, so I'll try again this year.
