"Too personal"

I HAVE SPENT THE LAST HOUR READING THESE PAGES WITH HORROR, MUCH TO PERSONAL, WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE WHO CRITIZE DANCERS NOW AND ONES LONG GONE, AS THESE PAGES MAKE INTERNATIONAL READING, CRITIZE THE PERFOMANCES, BALLETS, CHOREOGRAPHY, THINK, HOW WOULD YOU AS A DANCER FEEL READING SOME OF THE COMMENTS MADE ON THESE PAGES, IF IT WAS ABOUT YOU!!!!!!
SO STOP AND THINK, AND KEEP THESE TOO PERSONAL THOUGHTS TO ONES SELF.

Welcome to the board Toe Shoe but please stop shouting!

People are are entitled to their own opinion and some dancers are probably a lot more critical of themselves than what may be written.

It would have been great if you had actually put your own name and e-mail so you can stand by your thoughts!

BTW What is so personal about the comments on these pages. You will have read a lot of views that some posters will agree with and others won't but you will also see debates. Feel free to join in!

I agree Shirley - I dont think there is malicious intent in any of the comments on this website. However ballet like all arts is something people do discuss and criticise. Because of the very visual nature of ballet as an art there are times when appearance of dancers/sets and the like are going to be made which some may consider "personal". By and large though I would say that most of the comment on this site tends to be in praise of what they have seen and criticism is constructive

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and the point of sites like these is to exchange and share views and stimulate debate. It is nice when people stand by there opinion though and don't use anonymous taglines

   Dear Toe Shoe,

It doesn't matter to me if you don't wish to be known to the rest of the regular visitors to this site. I'm still relatively new to the balletomane thing, but if there's one thing I've learned from the site, it's that people care about ballet and dance.

You'll always get a variety of postings, I suppose you do in many sites and this is no exception. But when the chips are down, the posters aren't afraid of telling people where to get off - See the recent prejudiced diatribe against peoples' religious beliefs for that.

Yes. There will always be the personal opinion, body fascism, etc. but it's very, very seldom borne of malice, more usually out of an interest in the way current companies and dancers are shaping up, and although I don't condone it, I can understand it. I reckon that most dancers are tough enough to disregard the personal stuff - they'll probably get much worse anyway.

I've learned an enormous amount since I began viewing, and I'm continuously grateful to Bruce and his friends for providing such a well regarded resource.

Please! Join us on a regular basis for some very well informed criticism and debate - now is the 'silly season', but you just wait for the Autumn.

   Robert et al,

For clarification, as far as I'm concerned it's the unecessary glorification of the body slim, which consciously or unconsciously forces people into dieting or maintaining a body shape which would otherwise be unnatural to them.

Regards

Martinjay
