"Film with Mara Galeazzi"

Mara Galeazzi and choreographer Cathy Marston are hoping to make a 20 minute film on the theme of - a day in the life of a dancer. These two bright young RB stars are collaborating with an award-winning film maker, Philip Cox and a group of talented musicians in what promises to be an exciting production. Cathy Marston will choreograph an 8 minute solo for Mara specially for the film.
As so often with dance, finance is the main hurdle to be overcome, despite the fact that the overall budget has been kept as low as possible, with some of those involved offering to provide their time for love not money, if necessary. We are talking about a need to raise about 10,000, which would come from a range of sources - not a budget for a remake of 'Titanic'.

If you are interested to know more about the film and how you might be able to help to get it made, please contact Phil Cox on, rosemary.cox@dial.pipex.com.

Phil Cox, the film's Director is delighted as a ballet.co reader has promised 250 to the project. If some grants fall into place, then Phil is now looking for about a further 2000 to ensure that filming goes ahead.

The piece will have a multi-visual approach to the daily life/work of a ballet dancer, using still photography, documentary and a choreographed work. It will feature a specially composed piece of music from two young award winning musicians - a cellist and pianist who will create a work around Mara and the main themes.

The aim will be to produce a work that is of high artistic quality whilst also presenting an accessible and entertaining side to the training
and life of a classical dancer. The film will also try to challenge traditional ways of
showing dance on screen.

Donors (no amount too small) will receive a mention in the film's credits and location visits etc. will be possible. Phil says that he would be prepared to walk any donor's dog. I think Spielberg uses the same fund-raising technique.

Nobody deserves to walk Pluto! ...

Other than that it all sounds rather good!

Phil Cox, the Director, is delighted as another ballet.co reader has agreed to sponsor the Mara Galeazzi/Cathy Marston film.

With another 1750, Phil will be able to make the film to the quality that the superb talents involved deserve. Contributions of any size will be very welcome and perks such as location visits, videos of the work, opportunity to meet the performers can be discussed. And the 'Phil walking your dog service' has now been extended to cats and hamsters as well.

First stage filming is due to start within the next few weeks, so there is a need to sort out the financial position as sonn as possible.

If you are interested to know more about the film and how you might be able to help to get it made, please contact Phil Cox on, rosemary.cox@dial.pipex.com.
