i am starting my third year at the artss educational school tring in september. i am 13. we have all been told that we are not allowed to go in 4 dance festivals(compatitions) which i stoped 2 years ago to go there! in dancing times this month there was a compatition that is all for charity and my mum and i were wondering if i might be allowed to enter it as it is for a good cause. please tell me if you think it is a bad idea to enter it or not? eve
Eve, Personally I don't like the competitions, apart from a few prestigious ones, you can enter when you are older. I know in your country there is a lot to do about competitions and I can't understand this. Ballet is an art-form and it's never fair to compare young dancers in a competition. At your age it's important to focus on your training and be carefull that you don't get injured. If you are in a grow-spurt and you are demanding too much of your body, an injury can take you months to recover. Your teachers know this and advise what is the best for you, please listen to them ! And I know your school is extremely strict in this case.
