Helena - Opera was a general term for opera and ballet. It literally means "work" . Often dancers in the past were called Opera Dancers - there is one mentioned in the book Jane Eyre! It is only the in the 20th century where the dinstinction is made between true opera and ballet is clearer. The Paris Opera web site has all the ballet info you need.

In fact it is the best Opera web site on the net in my view. And it has an English version as well.

Also be aware that "bank card" means credit card in France - this got me very confused as I thought it meant cash machine or switch card!
