"bad timing but would love your opinions"

i know its a little late for this but..... the ENBs newish nutcracker is simply hideous!! instead of dancing the entire 1st act is taken up with the dancers posing and then shuffling round the room with their partners trying to recreate ballroom dancing without actually dancing!! in the second act drosselmier and his cape dominate the entire act and i was horrified to see one of the dances repand why is there adultery in what is meant to be THE childrens ballet....does it really ad to it??!!

Well, I was happy to move with the times, liked the concept (and didn't notice the adultery) and the designs were stunning - particularly in the first act, as it happens - but the first act was, from a dance standpoint, appalling. I loved the IDEA of the little black dresses dancing, but they just couldn't do it! They should have hired Peggy Spencer's team from Penge, because most of the ENB dancers just did not know how to move in heels. I'm not saying it should have been a full professional Latin routine - of course not, that would have been all wrong - but it should have been IDEALISED social dancing, whereas instead they just looked like they all had two left feet and didn't really know what to do with them!

annelise i agree with u completely...they just all looked as if they were shuffling aruond treading on each others toes for the entire act...i wouldnt have minded if they were all dancing....and what did u think of the 2nd act eith the diversittments that featured hospital trolleys covered in wrapping paper sliding arouynd in time to the music....all i wanted from this production was a bit of dancing!!
