I thought Tapper was absolutely wonderful! I do wonder when will be her next promotion to the principal...I mean she truly has the confidence, carisma and beauty.
Hatley was a little wobbly but gave a brilliant performance, lovely acting and so was Sasaki.

I thought Tapper was a terrific Swanhilda. I'd been so disappointed when I heard Wildor wasn't dancing, but Tapper's spunk and humour more than made up for it and she matched Kobborg in every way.

I was surprised at how little dancing there was for Franz - 2 pdd and a grande pdd at the end. Still Kobborg was very funny with the mime, clearly showing what a consummate flirt and cheeky bum his Franz is. His brilliant solo in the grande pdd made my jaw drop and was worth waiting for.

Sasaki I thought did a nice job, but he was a bit staid and seemed a little nervous, I guess this being his debut and all. The lifts looked a bit unsteady, and he didn't have the little touches that made Kobborg's performance so individual. I'm looking forward to hearing about his next performance.

It was a first Coppelia for me. The sets were beautiful and cheery, the Act 1 costumes fun and colourful, especially those bright red boots! I was wondering how Kobborg would take off in them. And I loved the glitter in Act 3. I've heard that some critics have complained about the standard of the corps, but to my untrained eye they seemed in top form to me.

We just loved this when we went on Thursday! We hadn't really known what to expect, and it was so lovely and light-hearted and sweet that we just fell in love with it!! Tapper was excellent and the dancing was really cheerful and happy - not a technical phrase I know, but sums it up for me. The only odd point was the prayer - danced by someone called Muriel someone - who seemed unbelievably uncomfortable and uncontrolled - I was really surprised. However she got an enormous cheer, so what do I know??

I saw Hatley at yesterday's matinee, and thought she made a delightful Swanilda: lovely fleet footwork where required, and plenty of personality/characterisation. You could see every thought and emotion that she was feeling. In fact, during the Czardas (or is the Mazurka that Franz dances with the other woman?) I was far more interested in what was going on indoors (S. having flounced off into her house in a huff, and her friends trying to persuade her to come back out) - they eventually got her back out, and she nearly stole the show dancing on the tabletop to distract from everything else. I imagine that Sasaki was better than at his debut, as well - lovely dancing. My only quibble would be a few bits of the partnering in the pdd at the end, which were a bit iffy. Otherwise, I enjoyed this performance far more than any of the other 2 or 3 I've seen.

Forgot to say, Luke Heydon as Coppelius managed to snap his walking stick in two when halfway across to the inn. It caused a few problems!
