"Swan Lake - no review!"

Out of respect for Vasliev and his well meaning attempts to bring the Bolshoi into a new era I will not do a review of Swan Lake! The D. Telegraph says it all but in a rather restrained manner.

But I will say that the playing of the orchestra was rubbish. It sounded like the ENB orcherstra on a bad day! It seems that all orchestras hate Swan Lake - it is a great score actually but orchestras are just fed up with it!

... and I thought Ismene Brown was being quite vitriolic by her standards!

At least the Bolshoi has saved this Swan Lake till the final week, and has not danced it in the first week of the season. Hope the last ballet - Vasiliev's "Don Q" - is more satisfactory.
