"Nina Ananiashvili"

Last night we had the great good fortune to see Nina Ananiashvili dance in DonQ with the Bolshoi.

I can't believe that dancing can come much better than what we saw last night. Imperfections that you never really knew were there go when she dances - it all has such breathtaking clarity. It's now in my top 5 performances ever seen. One critic was literally jumping around in their seat with the joy and emotion of it. I will review latter but I would encourage people to go if they can.

Much has been said about the cost of tickets - which none of us can sensibly change. But here we have a ballerina of world renown, at the very height of her powers, and who has not danced in the UK for 6 years and goodness knows when she might again. This is a very rare opportunity.

Sounds wonderful, Bruce - and on the same night Sarah Wildor was giving a Rhpasody that's gone into my own 'best ever' list. What with those, and Acosta, it's been rather a good week! Shame about Swan Lake, though.

Yes, yes, yes on Acosta!

Luckily I missed the Bolshoi Swan Lake!

The apology is to the Friends of Jane Burn Appreciation Society (FoJBAS). We saw her in Rhapsody at the Saturday matinee and she was sparkling in the lead - bags of confidence and lovely feet/legs. So quick *and* in time!

Sorry Bruce but as the chairman of the various Jane Burn Societies I find your apologies insufficiently grovelling! You have to release .avi film clip of you on your knees apologizing before it can be accepted (and there is no guarantee it will be!)!
