"The Ballet Bible Challenge"

As the Ballet Goer's guide hasn't been updated for 20 years (a definitave guide to all ballets, choreographers and dancers - much better than the Oxford dictionary of dance...it has pictures and a history of ballets, who originally danced them etc...)

Does anyone know of someone who would want to update it or write their own uptodate one? (of course with a different title...but along the same lines...)

How about it Bruce?...as you are a fountain of information and with the help of all ballet.co.uk users with all their knowledge...

Decent ballet books are so rare, almost non-existent, I think that a new one needs compiling...What does everyone else think?

the size of such an undertaking would demand so much time, so much effort and so much money, it is a somewhat overwhelming idea.

I think it's an excellent idea. My copy of the Ballet Goers' Guide is much loved along with the 2 volumes of Balanchines' Festival of Ballet, but there are lots of new ballets which deserve to be included in such a reference. Yes, it would be costly to compile, like any book, but having recently seen a huge book on opera with lots of photos and information, I don't think the idea should be ruled out. I wonder if Dancebooks would be interested? They have a publishing thing don't they?
