"Anastasia Volochkova"

There is a piece in the Evening standard today on Anastasia. I am curious to know what she is good/bad at as she does get a lot of press (albeit some of it has not been dance related given the recent speculation about her personal life).

I realise she is v.photogenic but what is her dancing background ( Kirov trained)?

Just curious to see whether there is more to all the press coverage than just a good publicity agent. Is it worth going to see her and if so what in?

Russian ballet-goers dubbed Volochkova as "ballet's Kurnikova". This says it all.
She indeed had been with the Kirov, and left in 1998 disagreeing with management. Since, she danced Carabosse with ENB and Odette/Odile with Bolshoi. Her PR campain in Russia is very aggressive, despite the fact she never gets appreciated by ballet fans neither stage partners.
I personally saw her at Montreal Gala des Etoiles in September 2000, and didn't like her dancing. She's quite inflexible and acts very boldly. I think she'd better be off as model than dancer.
If I were you, I'd spend my money elsewhere...

Thanks for the tips - thats pretty much what I'd heard.

Only trouble with aggressive marketing is that it gets harder to keep people interested (unless you're chris evans) -Maybe she'll be the first ballerina to do a playboy spread
