"The Validity of Posters"

I find it very disappointing that someone would chose to pose as someone else, and take all of us genuine readers for a ride. If the minority keep on doing this, then genuine posts from important people in the ballet world will not believed. It is a case of the boy who cried wolf....I am ofcourse refering to the phantom clement crisp.....and as a avid reader of the real Mr Crisp's articles I was very taken aback that someone would mislead deliberatly. I never would think i'd quote eminem in ballet.co.uk, but would the 'real' people please stand up.

I agree. However the pseudo-Crisp's prose was so graceless that I doubt many were deceived.

Well said, Nikki. In my opinion, a site that is as well thought out, designed and maintained as this reaches the level of recognition it deserves when even the professionals look to it as a source for information and engaging discussion. However, people like the artificial Crisp tarnish the standing of ballet.co.uk and should not be encouraged by regular posters. We want the professionals to see that we, the public have a legitimate opinion and a voice to be heard, instead of just posting irresponsible snipes.

Cyber impersonation is very distasteful and does a great injustice to
all who post on the web or rely on e-mail. Considering that
choreographers, dancers, and journalists do post on ballet.co,
falsifying an identity is serious. Eventually, people will need
legislative protection. In the mean time, Mr. Crisp and the rest of
us should use a digital signature, such as the one on this post.

A great idea...however to me and other technophobes the signature is not an easy way to identify people, since it just looks like a jumble of letters and numbers.

That said, Olga Spessivtseva, Vera Trefilova, Vaslav Nijinsky and Tamara Karsavina are welcome additions to our ranks. It would be nit-picking to disqualify contributors merely because they're dead.
