"Fille pony "misses call""

Whatever happened to the pony in the RB's Sunday matinee performance of Fille in Washington? Instead, the trap taking Lise and the Widow Simone to the harvest picnic was drawn by members of the corps. This was the Kennedy Center's explanation:

"According to our programming department, the horse sadly missed its call on Sunday and did not make it to the Kennedy Center in time for the performance. Hope you enjoyed the show".

Explains everything really...

Here in the recent UK Birmingham Royal Ballet tour, it wasn't allowed on stage due to Foot & Mouth. Instead the cart was pulled by the chickens!

Thank you! I was afraid to ask them. I thought it was just that he didn't work on Sunday. I guess he was caught in traffic, or perhaps sleeping in after a late party the night before

I don't think RB really understand the pony thing

In Birmingham (prior to F&M) you used to be able to "pat the pony" after the performance - they would bring it out to the front of the theater. Don't think I've ever seen that at Covent Garden where they probably assume that most in the audience can pat their own pony when the need arises...

I've obviously had a little too much white wine tonight because its just occurred to me that for men of a certain age we could have "pat the ballerina" after some performances! And obviously "Pat the Bolle bum" for woman of a certain age (between say 12 and 80)

That's weird rationalisation! Ponies are not carriers of F & M, any more than chickens are! And to whom did they suppose the hapless animal was going to transmit anything?
