The participant for Britan will be Jamie Bond from The Royal Ballet School. After national auditions Jamie was chosen to represent the country by a distinguised panel of judges from the dance world. He is currently rehearsing two solos for the competition. The solo from the Black Swan Pdd, and a contempary solo choreograped By Dedrie Veldman of Rambert especially for the occasion. Jamie was Awarded the Young British Dancer title last year and was later coached by Sir Dowell on stage for a Gala at the Linbury ROH in aid of The Royal Ballet School. Jamie has gone through the RBS from White Lodge up til present just embarking on his Graduate year.

Does anyone know who will be representing all the other European nations? I know that Switzerland will be represented by Sarah Kora Dayanova, a student of the POB school, and a silver medalist of Luxembourg IBC and a scholarship recipient of 2001 Prix de Lausanne.

Sarah Kora Dayanova was a student of POB school.Apparently she stayed at the third "division" as "eleve payante"("paying student" -the best ones don't have to pay) for two years. This year she isn't no more listed as a student. We can suppose she wasn't allowed to stay .

He is now in Vienna Opera Ballet Company, and was recently invited by Vladmir Malhakov to join his new found company as a Principal!

As far as I know, Vladimir Malakhov hasn't founded a new company. He's still dancing with the ABT, Stuttgart Ballet, Vienna State Opera Ballet etc. as well as in Japan.

This sounds very exciting! Whilst we will all be behind James,I don't recall reading about any 'national search' for our British entrant - was this only offered to RBS students? It would be interesting to read all about this event if anyone has a link.

The audition was held in London and I understand that schools in England were informed and students had the choice to audition. 8 Students auditioned for the place from RB and I believe others included ENB stuents and Central students. The last RB student to represent England was Teddy Kumakawa. The audition was filmed and no doubt will be shown in the near future on the BBC.

Vladimir Malakhov indeed hasn't founded an own company. But he is the star of an annual gala event in St. Pölten, a town near Vienna, called "Malakhov and Youth" - maybe that's what this is about?
Rainer Krenstetter (who is Austrian, born in Vienna - so I wonder why he should represent Germany in the contest) is still with the Vienna Ballet. Malakhov continues to be in the headlines as a possible ballet director for Berlin.

I sincerely hope he won't do it, because every single ballet director in Berlin failed or was thrown out or left after a short time. It's a very, very hard town for ballet.
